Home and Hosed - Chelsea 2-0 Stoke

Tough old game yesterday against a stubborn team. Other than the obvious threat of height times long throw minus any type of proper footballing endeavour, the pressure was there for everyone to see/feel - two defeats on the bounce and the eyes of the World(ish) on us. We came through with flying colours on a 'terrible' pitch (God these modern-day footballers are fussy!) with the added bonus of El Capitano notching, just to confuse the papers as to which end of their rags to place the headlines! Has anyone every been the front AND back page headline?

Jason Cundy - he of the perpetual presence on the British airwaves and TV screens - took part in the brief but all-important draw at Wembley that paired us with Aston Villa. Martin O'Neill will get the dvd of our recent debacle against Citeh and note how many times the pace of Bellamy and Tevez stretched our back four, and pass that info on to Agbonlahor and co. A couple of years ago I would have been supremely confident of getting to another F A Cup final, but these days we seem to be able to contrive to lose to anyone who fancies taking the game to us, so happy to be there but not overly confident of a return in May. Perhaps if we chuck together a decent run between now and April 10th I'll change my tune. For now I'll hedge my bets.
